At The Blogbook, they're asking this question about a Sports Illustrated libel case: "What will happen when weblog writers . . . become defendants in similar libel suits?"
Will weblog writers become defendants in libel suits? It's certainly just around the corner. What makes me so confident? Weblogs don't have editors, the first line of defense for many publishers trying to sift the libelous from the hard-hitting. And the ease with which weblog entries can be posted means that they are often sent out into the e-world without careful reflection.
For future reference, whatever is published in this weblog is opinion, even when it's fact. For more on the editor-less weblog issue, see here and here.
