“429 Words on Playing Games.” From j. concurring in dissent comes some wise words about playing soccer with law school friends. J. managed to injure himself and asks, “Why does a somewhat rational human being engage in physically self-destructive behavior?” J.'s answer, which makes perfect sense to us: To have fun and forget about law school for a while. (To find the post, scroll to 3/11/04.)
But Law School is Impossible to Forget. In another post from j. concurring in dissent, J. reminds his readers that “survival is what really matters.” In a post titled "1000 Words on Keeping Afloat" that doesn't make us miss law school, J. writes about what he's got to do during Spring Break now that he's fallen behind: “[R]ead tons of Property; finish taking notes on Crim. Law; catch-up on notes for Civ. Pro; catch-up on notes for Contracts; register for summer courses; figure out [my] summer financial aid needs; clean my apartment (the one thing I was planning on doing over Spring Break); and begin re-organizing everything for finals.” (This post is dated 3/9/04.)
''Absent Thoughts." Three Years of Hell to Become the Devil is also ruminating about Spring Break. Blogging's been light there, since "[t]his week has been the roughest I've had at law school, and it may only get worse." During Spring Break, the blog's author, Anthony, is going to "stay in New York and just get caught up and ready for the sprint to exams." (A depressing thought indeed.)
Meanwhile, sua sponte is "Still Sprinting." In still more news from the law schools about exams, sua sponte writes "[i]t's funny how these exams, stressful as they are, still haven't registered in my mind as the actual endpoints of the classes I took this term. I'm going to come back from spring break and not be taking Tax any more. That's just weird." (We predict you'll quickly get used to it.)

Get used to the quarter system? I guess I'll have to, or else I'll be going through this denial-jetlag-exhaustion phase again and again every nine weeks. I can see how quarters could come to feel like the natural order of things after a few more of these exam-season sprints.
But I'm still going to miss Tax. (Really.)

I see you have the ability to take my rambling, incoherent posts, and turn them into concise statements that actually make sense. However, I do disagree with your word choice. I don't think anything I've ever posted should be construed as "wise" -- it's just a little misleading.

JCA: I didn't mean you were going to get used to the quarter system; I meant you'd get used to being without tax class. But maybe you won't. I liked tax too (a required course for me during first year) and I briefly thought I might become a tax lawyer. That didn't last long, though. If you still find yourself missing tax next month, try to cure yourself by reading the code every now and then.
Justin: You are being much too hard on yourself. As for misleading my readers, I covered that topic in my disclaimer. You can find the link in the right-hand column of this blawg.

I say there's nothing wrong with misleading your readers. In fact, when it makes me sound better, mislead away. :-)

The one thing I like about havin' you on my blogroll is that I have found there are many more lawyers bloggin' that I ever imagined and you work hard keepin' up with all of them. Thanks, Evan!
