As I've mentioned before, I haven't seen too much of Johnnie Cochran since he took out several full-page Yellow Pages ads in the small town where I practice. Believe me, it's not like I've been hiding. But not once have I run into Johnnie at McDonald's or the barbershop or even the casino.
It turns out I may have been looking in the wrong place. At court the other day, I ran into a lawyer who told me that Johnnie's setting up shop across the river in St. Louis. The lawyer even knew the location. So yesterday, while conducting some business in downtown St. Louis, I stuck out my stomach like Michael Moore and paid a visit to Johnnie's new offices.
I'm sorry to say I struck out. The security guard had never heard of the Cochran Law Firm. "But you've heard of Johnnie Cochran?" I asked her.
Well, of course she'd heard of Johnnie Cochran. What a silly question! And she was thrilled to hear he's coming to her building.
For now, that's all I know. If Johnnie ever gets around to following up his Yellow Pages ads with living, breathing lawyers, he'll be happy to know I've already paved the way with the security in his building. In the meantime, I'll keep you posted; let's hope Johnnie's not thinking about stealing my clients. Did I tell you his Yellow Pages ads appear right next to mine?
(Special concluding note to federal judges: The linked photo of the St. Louis riverfront in the second paragraph of this post was taken before the creation of your wonderful new imperial courthouse. Sorry about that. You can find a photo of your building here.)
