Targeted for Death by Supreme Court Justice! Heidi Bond is giving Scalia the benefit of the doubt on the recent recusal issue, but adds:
On the other hand, I do think that the poor ducks shouldn’t have been hunted. They’re small. They’re cute. They’re feathered. They swim. They’re like a chicken’s cousin—eating for meat, used for eggs.Poor ducks.
And shame on Scalia for hunting them.
Meanwhile, Will Baude agrees about Scalia but disagrees about the ducks. (For Beldar's assessment of the Scalia issue, see here. Beldar's not a law student and doesn't belong in this post, but here he is anyway!)
Bacon Overheard Insulting Her Con Law Professor It’s a post from Notes from the (1L) Underground that deserves to be quoted (almost) in full, because it reminds me of my own sick law school days:
Miffed at the universal solitaire playing and web browsing that goes on in class, our Con Law professor sent out an email notifying our section that we will ALL be on call tomorrow . . . So naturally I turn to the person next to me and begin to complain -- the standard "I can't believe he's doing this" followed by an "It's ridiculous." And because god likes a good laugh, our professor walks by just as I do. He smiles at me, raises an eyebrow and says, "Ridiculous?" I nod. He smiles again. I'm doomed. So now I'm in the library doing my Con Law reading.
It's a fun blog; I'm nearly over the author's blatant theft in choosing its title.
News from All Over Waddling Thunder has some thoughts about the British legal training system; Unfashionable Observations posts about a new favorite band; Jeremy Blachman is taking Spring Break early; j. concurring in dissent writes about a blogger-friend who is being dogged by anonymous comments (see 3/19); The Serious Law Student is surprised at becoming a "pseudo-intellectual snob"; JD2be's blog is looking very Easterish; Three Years is kicking himself for not cornering the market on John Kerry's The New Soldier; and Mixtape Marathon offers some thoughts about NCAA tournament brackets.
This Week’s Extreme Wit at the Law Schools Award ™ Goes To . . . BuffaloWings&Vodka's “Where the Supremes Are Going for Spring Break.” (Note: Not to denigrate Michael's post, but there wasn't a lot to choose from this week. Are the law students getting worn down at this point in the year? More likely, I'm missing some posts. Since I'm going to continue the "extreme wit" feature, I invite readers to provide me with notice via e-mail of extremely witty posts, whether theirs or anyone else's.)
