In Today's Roundup, We Revisit an Important Question, Last Considered Here and Here, to Wit: Are Some Law Students Too Cool to Be Lawyers?
Is Elizabeth Wurtzel Too Cool to Be a Lawyer? She's the author of Prozac Nation and Bitch, and she's going to Yale Law School next September, according to this report. I don't know if she's too cool to be a lawyer, but the news does make me want to say . . . well, I guess I'll keep my mouth shut. At least until the next paragraph.
Is Will Baude Too Cool to Be a Lawyer? Now I'm on stronger footing, and I can answer with conviction: yes, Will Baude is too cool to be a lawyer. As everyone knows, he's going to Yale Law School next year too. Given the Wurtzel news, which Will must have known about ahead of time, I now understand the reference in Will's linked post "Descending the Stair." The reference wasn't to Prufrock, but to Duchamp's "Nude Descending the Stair," obviously with Wurtzel in mind. Just compare the painting to this photo. The similarities are uncanny!
Yet Another Soon-To-Be-1L Also Seems Too Cool to Be a Lawyer I'm speaking of Jim of Jim's Polka. Even though polka's not so cool anymore, it must have been at one time; otherwise, how do you explain the Duck Dance? Jim's blog seems cool too. It hasn't been around for long, but the tone is casual and down-to-earth. If Jim keeps blogging, I'll keep reading!
And Still Another Too-Cool-Future-1L: J of The Visible Hand This weekend J of The Visible Hand headed to Nebraska to watch his "little sister graduate college." That seems pretty cool. Next year, J will be a 1L at the University of Michigan School of Law.
Is Energy Spatula Too Cool to Be a Lawyer? "Energy Spatula" is the very cool proprietor of the blog will work for favorable dicta. She drinks beer, spends a lot of money on her hair, and has that comic attitude towards life that makes reading blogs fun.
People Who Own Exotic Household Pets Are Too Cool to Be Lawyers . . . Especially if they use them to fluster their con law professors, as did JCA of sua sponte.
People Who Like Book Lists Are Too Cool to Be Lawyers Steven at Half-Cocked took a hint from the book-list craze and posted a list of his own "top 10 novels." I scored a 2/10, though I'm also due another half-point for my work-in-progress on Infinite Jest.
Are Law Students Who Watched the Friends Finale Too Cool to Be Lawyers? Frankly, I'm more of a Soprano's guy. Even so, I taped the Friends finale for the rest of the family, but then fell asleep as they watched it. If you want to read more about it, see Jeremy's Weblog or Inter Alia.
This Week’s Extreme Wit at the Law Schools Award™ Goes To . . . Mixtape Marathon for the post "One More." The post is a good demonstration of wit-under-pressure, which is extremely rare and very hard to accomplish. (I'm actually getting a little worried about Bekah as she suffers through the horror of her exams. Hang in there, Bekah!)

Ok, there must be some kind of economic theorem at work here: If the amount of pressure on the law student is great enough, the amount of wit can be miniscule and the post can still qualify for the Extreme Wit at the Law Schools Award. Thanks for the kind words--and don't worry, I'll be fine after Wednesday.

Bekah: Wit delivered under pressure is by definition more extreme.

Evan, thanks for the mention. I'll let you know when I get the rest of my list up.
Oh, and I'll be thinking of you as I clerk at a plaintiffs' firm this summer.

Thanks much for the link!
Unfortunately, it was anything but cool in Nebraska--well over 90 basically every day.
Had a good time though, and I've added a post about my trip.
