If you want news about lawyers working for AmLaw 100 firms, there's a new weblog that has it covered. It's called Skallawwag, and it's committed to publishing gossip about "the comings and goings of attorneys at U.S. & U.K. law firms."
So far, the author seems to be doing an admirable job. Yesterday, for example, I learned that (a) "Vladislav Ugryumov joins Baker & McKenzie as head of its Moscow patent group" and (b) "Don Kumamoto has left his position as VP of IP at Applied Material to become an of counsel in Fish & Richardson's Silicon Valley office."
Good stuff, but I must admit I like my gossip to involve a little more blood and guts. Of course, that's just me--and I ain't no AmLaw 100 lawyer. Back when I did breathe that rarified air, I remember how there was nothing more entertaining than tracking the career moves of lawyers working for competing BigLaw firms.
It's why this weblog might work. Just don't criticize me for wondering at what time of the morning they break out the vodka at Baker & McKenzie's Moscow office, or why Fish & Richardson was taking on new "of counsels" but not new partners.
Admit it: You wonder about it too.

Thanks to a search that showed up on my Referer List yesterday, I am pleased to remind you that gossip is good for our psyches and society. See "The real slant on gossip," Psychology Today, Jul-Aug. 1996. So, gossip away, guilt-free.

Hi Evan,
Thanks for the link and for your advice. We at Skallawwag appreciate it. Incidentally, we're hoping that once we're well-known, people will leak info to us that will contain the juicy details. Until then, we'll probably just make them up!
