Vioxx Rumor of the Day: The Eastern District of Louisiana Will Get the MDL Action

According to a report by HarrisMartin Publishing, sources within the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana are saying that the MDL Panel will announce later this week that it will be assigned the consolidated federal Vioxx actions. There's no word on the judge.

This information was only made available to subscribers to one of the HarrisMartin publications, so I can't link to it directly. I got the information through a tip. My collected Vioxx posts are here.

UPDATE 2/16 It's not official, but the judge will reportedly be Judge Eldon E. Fallon. Judge Fallon currently presides over the federal Propulsid litigation.

UPDATE 2/16, a little later. Now it's official--the MDL panel has assigned the Vioxx litigation to Judge Fallon.
