Would You Listen to this Podcast?
On fifty separate occasions during 2004, I did a "weekly report" post that contained an update on my law practice at Schaeffer & Lamere and Carey & Danis, where I'm "of counsel" on a few special projects. I killed off the recurring post with this one: "Weekly Report #50: Happy New Year."
Now I'm regretting the death of the weekly report. Why? It allowed me to present, by means of real examples, how I really feel about the practice of law. Not only did some readers find the weekly reports interesting, but they also provided me with a way to seem less one-dimensional. I don't want this weblog to be merely a "humor site."
I think I'll resurrect the weekly report as a short 5-minute podcast. My idea would be to report on the cases I'm working on (mostly class actions and mass torts, plus a few personal injury cases); how I'm spending my time; anecdotes about the lawyers I'm working with; and so on. On certain weeks, I can speak to particular themes or questions: How and why plaintiffs' firms work as teams; what it's like to work without a salary; whether plaintiffs' lawyers "create" litigation; when and why it's necessary for plaintiffs' lawyers to keep track of their time; the goals and strategies necessary to make money in federal-multidistrict-litigation cases; etc.
My question: Assuming podcasting is a good idea, does the subject matter of this potential weekly podcast sound interesting? If not, how can it be tweaked--or should it be abandoned?

(1) great topic
(2) no, I [podriah emeritus] would not listen
(3) this is a humor site?

As a law student (not much longer), I am much more interested in anecdotes about the practice of law than the fully covered legal theory, etc. The humor is pretty good too.

Evan, I like your site a lot. That being said, I will not listen to podcasts. I listened to one once, it was fine...but it seemed to be a lot more trouble than just reading. I'm really not into the whole podcasting thing, and I'm sad that some of your features are now podcast-only, which deprives me of access to them.
That being said, renewing the weekly report sounds like a decent idea. I would probably read it if it were printed. Maybe people who like podcasts would dig it if you put it in audio format.

[Except, no fake name]
Yabut, isn't that a fake name?
Anyway, I'm trying to figger out whether willingness to listen to a podcast depends on the level of interest in the medium, the message, or the messenger.
Would you listen to this podcast?

Thanks for the feedback. I received more by e-mail. Unless I change my mind, I think this new idea is a go.
To those who refuse to listen to podcasts--well, that's too bad, but I'm pretty confident that if you don't happen to hear mine, you'll find a way to survive. Your real problem is--as Abnu points out--you'll also be missing out on Paris Hilton. That you might not survive.
