I said it earlier today in the comments to Law-Related Things That Suck: Lawyers With Weblogs--
As of today, this weblog is going to come to an abrupt halt. I'll then rebuild it from the ground up with a different type of content now that I know a little more about what effect having a (fairly popular) weblog has on my public image. It will probably end up being a retooling, not an abandonment--Legal Underground Version 2.0, something like that. If people quit reading, so be it.
The first thing I did was change the name of the weblog: it's now Evan Schaeffer's Legal Underground. Beginning tomorrow, I'm giving up all the recurring posts. I have some ideas for some other changes, but I'm going to take things slowly. The first thing I might do is explain why I'm retooling. I got a start in the comments I mentioned, so if you're interested, look there.

You changed your name to "brand" your weblog with your name.

Well, I'm changing more than that. I'm starting over essentially. "No more recurring posts" means no more Monday morning books posts, law-school roundups, advice posts, etc. I suppose I might do that sort of thing every now and then, but not regularly.

I like your blog a lot. I particularly like some of the reaccuring threads.
I think, however, that all of us lawyers who blog get board with them. We don't have the assurance of widespread publication like newspaper columnist, so it always seems we're writing for two people or so. But they can become oddly burdensome. I've killed my own off once, and thought of doing it again a couple of times. I note that Sherry has thought of killing Stay of Execution off more than once too, based on her posts.
I hope you keep yours up, however. I like it. And I wouldn't argue for much change, but that's soley your call.
