KEEPING UP WITH BLAWG REVIEW . . . Blawg Review is a weekly review of law-related blog posts, supervised by an editor with seemingly boundless energy. Each week, the review is hosted by a different weblog. Here's what's been happening during the past two weeks:
- Blawg Review #48 was hosted by Rethink(IP). The authors criticized Blawg-Review bloat and experimented with a new minimalist format in which they highlighted only three posts. But then they apparently got cold feet, because they also put together a second post at Blawgr that listed a bunch of other posts that didnt' quite make the cut.
- Blawg Review #49 is hosted today by Jim Calloway's Law Practice Tips. In his issue, Calloway dealt with the bloat created by Issue #48 (two posts, remember) and returned to the familiar single-post format. Thanks to Jim for writing about a post on this weblog!
Blawg Review has information about next week’s host, and instructions on how to get your blawg posts reviewed in upcoming issues. And to the Rethink(IP) guys: I'm only teasing!

The Rethink(IP) guys almost got it right, except they didn't maintain their own high standards with the rest of the story on Blawgr. It's too bad they didn't get "back to basics" (if that's what they wanted to do) by following Evan Schaeffer's example from Blawg Review #1, which begins with A Few Personal Favorites, coincidentally three, and follows with an entertainingly thoughtful presentation of submissions, recommendations, and more of the host's own selections.
Blawg Review #48 may have just missed the opportunity to take the conversation about recent blawg posts over to their new legal community weblog at Blawgr, but that site will undoubtedly show its unique characteristics when next scheduled to host Blawg Review.
It's easy to be a Monday morning quarterback but, for those who like a challenge, it's more fun to get in the game. And there's nothing like playing for your home crowd. There's still a few hosting dates available in the next year for those who would like to have this travelling blog carnival of law bloggers on their own blawgs.
