MARKING THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL . . . My three oldest kids are back in school today. All are in the most senior grades of their respective schools: Lydia is a high school senior, Austin is in 8th grade, and Zoe's in 5th. Next year, we'll suffer the reverse phenomenon: all will be the most junior of their schools.
Meanwhile, Sam, age 2, is also starting school today. I can't say I'm all excited about the summer coming to an end. Summer tends to be a time when the kids are rested and relaxed. Starting tonight, there will be homework to think about, followed by the morning rush to eat breakfast before heading out the door.
It's back to the status quo, in other words. Welcome to a new year of school.

Nice.
And your oldest is just about ready for the lesson plans about the importance of Civil Rights in this Country, as I give my oldest niece -- also 8 -- about the NAACP, the country's oldest Civil Rights Organization. Check out the scholastic reader published by Cartwheel Books:

And about the most important Civil Rights case in this country, Yick Wo v. Hopkins.

It's never too early to start to craft a better World.
Peace, Evan, and have a great school year.
PS: Prosecutor Albrecht "mysteriously" by the local paper resigned with only 3 months -- and my trial -- left in his term. He joins Chief Dunn as another surprise resignation.

Sorry for the misread: Austin and Zoe's are both old enough to learn about Civil Rights, 8th and 5th grade.
