GOOGLE HEALTH . . . Is Google dropping Google Health, its online medical-records project? An article in the Wall Street Journal implies its days might be numbered, as Larry Page resumes his role as CEO--
Some managers believe Mr. Page will eliminate or downgrade projects he doesn't believe are worthwhile, freeing up employees to work on more important initiatives, these people said. One project expected to get less support is Google Health, which lets people store medical records and other health data on Google's servers, said people familiar with the matter.
Three years ago, I wrote about Google Health for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I wasn't in favor of the idea: "Will Google Transform Medicine? Inevitable Advertising, Privacy Issues Make Google Health a Bad Prescription." I won't be sad to see it go.

Bad privacy record or not, the idea behind Google Health is brilliant in the way that less patients will die due to malpractice and cross-acting between prescribed drugs.
The current status of health information systems is really bad (I work in that field) in my personal opinion. There are so many things that healthcare professionals can do incorrecly simply because the systems allow for it.
My recommendation for people is to have a bit less concerns about their privacy and more concerns about their life.
I hope that the day will come when thousands or even hundreds of thousands of people won't die in simple procedures simply because the system won't let the professionals make those mistakes.
In my country approximately 0.005% of our population dies every year due to malpractice in healthcare .. and we have a very good healthcare system.
