I took the trip about two and a half years ago with my son Austin, who is currently a sophomore at the Kansas City Art Institute.

Day 1: Travel to San Jose

Day 2: Exploring downtown San Jose, the Museum of Precolombian Gold, the zoo

Day 3: The Arenal volcano at the Arenal Observatory Lodge

Day 4: More wildlife at Volcán Arenal, plus zip-lining

Day 5: Jaco on the Pacific Ocean

Day 6: Another day in Jaco on the beach

Day 7: Wildlife in the Manuel Antonio National Park
