A BIT OF COLOR FOR A MONDAY . . .
It's the "Great Piece of Turf," a 1503 watercolor painting by Albrecht Dürer. There's no end to the interesting commentary about the piece on the Internet, including analysis by some professionals about why this work is a masterpiece, and a 3D rendering of the turf itself.
The painting was served up to me at random over the weekend when I opened the Google Art Project.
