CEZANNE'S APPLES . . .

"With an apple I will astonish Paris" -- Paul Cezanne.

The painting is Cezanne's "Still Life with Dish Glass and Apples" from 1879. Here's testimony about Cezanne from the movie Manhattan from the Woody Allen character Isaac Davis--

Louis Armstrong, recording of Potato Head Blues... um... Swedish movies, naturally... Sentimental Education by Flaubert... uh... Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra... um... those incredible Apples and Pears by Cezanne... uh... the crabs at Sam Wo's... uh... Tracy's face...

Not my list, exactly, and probably not yours--but interesting to think about all the same . . .
