Believe me, it's no fun when people with a political agenda say you work in a "judicial hellhole." Libels like these cause stress. Sometimes this stress is reflected in the Alton Telegraph's Sound Off section, a newspaper forum for reader comment previously explained here.
Even local doctors are experiencing the stress of the libel, if the kookiness of their opinions is any indication. In an anonymous comment in the Sound Off section a few days ago, a doctor actually said this about malpractice suits:
[Lawyers] will collect your money and go on with their lives while ruining others. As far as doctors making mistakes, I would direct you and paraphrase you to an older but higher authority, and let him without sin cast the first stone.
Let me see if I understand. Lawyers take your money, but doctors, if they happen to amputate the wrong leg, or leave a sponge or two inside your body cavity after surgery--well c'mon, they're only human. Haven't you made mistakes?
