Oh my, Evan. You need to move out of the Midwest before your daughter is further poisoned.. hahaha.
Actually, there is hope for her. I said roughly the same thing about Carter in 1980, yet the Carter Center was one of my first stops in Atlanta last week.
People like to cling to the old adage- if you're not a liberal at 18, you have no heart; if you're not a conservative at 40, you have no brain- but I would like to think that if your views don't change over time (either way) than you have no capacity for rational analysis.

musclehead: I was somewhat surprised by my daughter's comments--she's not what I would call an astute observer of politics. Most likely, she was repeating something she'd overheard on FOX News as she was flipping through the channels looking for Nickelodeon. (On the other hand, when I was her age, it was Nixon v. McGovern, and I remember it well, since the neighborhood kids were fond of covering up Nixon bumper stickers with pro-McGovern ones.)

Your son is awesome!

Evan, I explain it to my kids this way:

You remember in the Wizard of Oz, there wuz Glenda and there wuz that nasty old bag who had the flying monkies?

Well, it's sorta like that with lawyers. There are the good witches, and the bad witches ....

At about that point they usually dump a glass of water on my head to see if I'll melt.

I see that at least one member of your household has it right. :)

Yes, believe it or not, it is possible to be republican and pro-plaintiff.
