you may not make as much money as a plaintiff's lawyer -- though it sure is easier to sleep at night.

and yes -- the uncertainties can be mind boggling -- and sometimes financially crippling. of course, there are more risks (and payoffs) as your own firm, but the best way to start would be as an associate. even then, your salary will not be what you expect, though the bonuses could exceed the same expectations.

but hey -- if your loans are paid off -- and this is where your heart is -- go for it. why keep working for the dark side if that's not where you want to be?
