COSTA RICA Day 7 (1/2) . . . Most of the day was spent in Manual Antonio National Park along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. We went there to see wildlife and to explore some of the beaches. Because the number of visitors each day was limited, the beaches when we arrived were almost empty.
We saw lots of these Capuchin monkeys--
MORE PHOTOS AFTER THE BREAK
One of the beaches (Espadilla Sur) when we arrived--
The same area from an overlook--
This is a tiny green frog, upside down, trying to impersonate a leaf--
We saw two iguanas--
We saw three sloths, but this one was very close to the trail; it doesn't move around a lot like the monkeys do, so the photos were easier--
This vulture-sized bird was sitting on a nest--
Another beach--
And another--
This is Manuel Antonio Beach about noon. There were lots of families by this point--
We also saw a racoon, a squirrel monkey, some bats, some agoutis (which look like giant guinea pigs), and many lizards and crabs. We didn't see any snakes, parrots, or macaws.
And that's it for Costa Rica--tomorrow we're driving back to San Jose and flying to St. Louis via Miami.
